Randy Sondrol
Training PartnerRandy Sondrol brings over 30 years of law enforcement training and experience, to academic and professional audiences. Randy retired after serving 32 years as a Deputy Sheriff in Minnesota and North Dakota and held leadership positions such as Investigator, SWAT Team Leader, Negotiator, Trainer and Supervisor.
He now instructs at Northland Community College in the Criminal Justice and SKILLS Program, where he is able to blend his real-world experiences with practical instructing on Minnesota statutes, procedure, and investigations with a strong emphasis on de-escalation, leadership, and organizational strategy.
Known for his straightforward style and down-to-earth approach, Randy focuses on building strong partnerships between law enforcement and collaborating agencies. He is passionate about improving victim-centered investigations through communication, and mutual respect. When he’s not teaching or training, Randy is usually working on his hobby farm in Northwest Minnesota or pursuing his aviation goals.

Mike Kutzke
Professional Training ServicesMike Kutzke is a keynote speaker, trainer, and lifelong learner who helps organizations make sense of change. He specializes in AI literacy, workplace resilience, and helping teams adapt to what’s next.
With over 25 years of professional training and teaching experience, Mike brings a unique perspective shaped by 17 years in law enforcement, including patrol, investigations, and administration, and decades of helping professionals develop practical skills they can use immediately.
His “Stay Curious” framework encourages continuous learning without the overwhelm, making complex topics like artificial intelligence accessible and actionable for any audience. Mike is known for blending humor, research-based insights, and adult learning principles to deliver presentations that are both engaging and impactful.
Mike holds an M.S. in Social Sciences from North Dakota State University and a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Shane Mendez
Training Partner & AuthorShane Mendez is the author of A TALE of a TADPOLE, a memoir about the pursuit of worth through achievement and the reckoning that follows when those pursuits collapse. His story traces a path from a chaotic childhood through Navy SEAL training and fourteen years in law enforcement before ultimately leading him into higher education.
Shane currently serves as an Assistant Professor at UND Aerospace, where he teaches professional preparation and ethics. Through his writing and speaking, he explores failure, identity, and the search for meaning after collapse.
